New emergency herbicide approval in Spain: Gowan’s “Avanza”

The Spanish Ministry (Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación) has approved an exceptional authorization for Benzobicyclon 40% [SC] P/V used in Gowan’s, Avanza, a group F2 herbicide.

This active ingredient (Benzobicyclon 40% [SC]) has been approved for its use to control Leptochloa spp., Heteranthera spp., and Cyperus difformis on rice. The dosage has been defined as a single treatment with 0.75 l/ha for rice in a BBCH 00-21 crop stage. Benzobicyclon has been described as a potential weed resistance active ingredient.

This emergency approval has been granted until July 24th in Andalusia, Aragon, Murcia, Navarra and certain municipalities of Extremadura and Catalonia.

This emergency approval has been already included in Homologa®.
