The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture has temporary authorized sugar beet seeds treated with neonicotinoids (Thiamethoxam 60%) in Castilla y León, Álava, La Rioja and Navarra, until the 14th of June 2022. Current conditions allow the dispersion of vectors related to beet yellowing viruses (BYV, BMYV). The use of Thiamethoxam on sugar beet seeds should follow a list of requirements defined by the ministry.
